Well, I got back from SIU Friday. Although I wasn't lucky enough to get to mess around with the Mac Interface, it looks as though I'll be buying one. (Audible Gasp!!) I know, I know. That was one thing I said I'd never do but I have finally been won over with a little research and a virus on my Windows PC. I'm a bit busy right now. I will talk more later.

With the Macbook and Pro having been out for a while a major problem seems to have developed. These pics tell all.

Read that, Make sure you understand. Now see the changes that have been made.

If you didn't already know these notebooks (Apple's support wants to make sure you say notebook, not Laptop) produce an insane amount of heat and Apple is taking notice. Even telling people not to place these on their laps in the manual. That's the last little tidbit I wanted to squeeze in this weekend. See everyone next Saturday.

Tomorrow, I will be leaving home to stay at SIU for a week, it's this summer thing where I take classes, stay in the dorms, all that. Anyway, if you didn't know SIU uses the Mac architecture around campus, so this will be the second time I will be able to work with the Mac user interface. If I am able to give a post from the campus I will try. So that is it for this week.

Games today, are, changing. Two games come to mind when thinking about innovation, Katamari Damacy and Loco Roco, both are Japanese. Another piece of innovative culture emerging from the land of the rising sun is the Wii. Yes, the controller is simply amazing, say what you will: "It's gimmicky" or "noone will be able to use it". First of all, is gimmicky a word, and secondly things like this are improving gaming, so accept them. It seems that the Japanese are grabbing it before the Americans but gaming needs newer bolder challenges.

Well, the DS lite is out and damned if I'm not impressed. Over in Nintendo's home turf of Japan the thing is selling like hotcakes and Big N is well on their way to outselling the Phat DS. With that sleek white package and the *New* Super Mario Bros. this thing is drawing even me in. I'm starting to contemplate picking one up. Nintendo has a lot to make up for, but this just might do it for me.

Hi, I finally have been coming around to the Apple side lately. No, no, I haven't converted but Apple does offer up an attractive package. You see after the move from PowerPC processors to Intel Chips a whole new aura of Apple using has opened up. It used to be that Apple had a very limited draw to their product. Now they have the fastest processors and the inclusion of Boot Camp which with a disk partition (please don't ask) allows you to run both the increasingly beautiful OS X and sweet, sweet Windows. The only downside to the Apple camp is price. With a Mac you'll pay more for hardware and software. Even if you use Boot Camp you have to bring your own $100-$150 version of Windows to the table. The short story is Apple is doing a great job, but until they can learn that money is an object, I'll be a Windows man.

The Spring Dashboard update (Part of the Xbox Team's plan to offer 2 new updates a year for the 360) is drawing near and I can't be more excited. The Update promises background downloading and improved media (finally). I signed up for the Windows Vista Media Center Xbox 360 Beta a few days ago but with this shoddy PC I doubt I'll be accepted. I can run Vista and all but I don't think that I'll be accepted. If I don't I'll definetly check out the CPP for Vista and post a huge review. That's about it for now. Game on.

The um. . .brilliant minds at Sony revealed the new and improved (oh, it has to be good now) version of their PS3 Controller. The Boomerang, Banana or whatever you described it as is gone and the classic PS controller is back with a spin (or two). It seems that Sony has placed a Playstation Logo in the center of the controller presumebly to go to a guide of some sort (Xbox 360 anyone?). They also showed the use of gyroscopic sensors so that tilting can be used in gameplay (Wii anyone?) currently the only game that I have seen use this function is the fighter plane game Warhawks and for good reason, it's the only one that deserves to right now. Now, I'm not saying copyright infringement this or get your own freaking ideas you idiot theives that, but some similarities in consoles have appeared. I'll of course have more on this in my full assessment of the E3 experience Saturday night.

The Total Assesment Part 1: The PS3

Sony had alot to say at this years E3 starting with the release date and price of the PS3. The 3rd generation of Playstation will be released here in the States on November 17. The PS3 (just like the 360) will come with 2 SKUs, here's the breakdown:

SKU 1 $600
The "premium" version of the pair. This thing is packing the console with a 60 GB HDD, HDMI out. Memory Card reader and built in Wifi.

SKU 2 $500
The "base" package comes with a 20 GB HDD, no HDMI out, No Memory Card reader, and of course no Wifi.

Now, it is no lie that these prices seem a bit too much but if you're an HDTV owner with Wifi in your home the PS3 might be a better deal, and here's proof.

Why you say should we buy such a machine? Well, GAMES OF COURSE. The PS3 has games and here's the breakdown of the most exciting ones I saw:

MSG4: Guns Of The Patriots:
Solid Snake is back and ready to kick it, even though he looks about 97 years old. The REAL TIME movie that I saw was shown wonderfully with a great story and amazingly detailed graphics. Let me go ahead and ruin the end for you SNAKE DIES!!! Yes the end of the vid ends with Snake placing his gun in his mouth to rid himself.

Warhawks:
This game is set in the future and you are a plane. There that's it. Actually this will be one of the first games to take advantage of the new gyroscopic controller that Sony has announced. The graphics, are, eh, O.K. After MSG4 they don't compage but the amount of NPCs on the screen was amazing. This shoot and fly adventure really durprised me with the ease of use that the gyroscopic controller showed.

Sadly, Sony left me unimpressed with high prices and a boring Press Event. The few games that really got me excited were limited in number as you can see and I actually don't plan on Buying this console. According to some of the comments I've seen on Joystiq neither does anyone else. It's not as if this thing wan't sell out from the beginning but I don't see the public accepting it's high price and lack of games. Sorry Sony but your reign as King had to come to and end at some time.

The Cheap PS3?

In a takeback of an earlier statement I had, the PS3 price is actually cheaper than the Xbox 360 for HD Gamers. Look:

PS3 with Wifi
HD Vid Drive
60 GIG HDD = $600

Xbox 360 with Wifi
HD Vid Drive
Only 20 GIG HDD = $600

As you can see, If you measure the technology included, the PS3 wins with the bigger Hard Drive. Of course, games like Halo 3 and Gears of War are going to keep me with Xbox for this Gen. Microsoft was smart the spread out the dough, so you don't notice. Sony went for it all at once and I believe they will get smashed in this console war.

E3 Break

While I can't legally be at E3, I am going to compiling everything that I can get over the next few days to give to you. Including: Why I hate Sony now, Why Wii excites me, and Why I am freaking out about all the 360 stuff. Gaming: A Social Activity!

Gaming, some people may think of a sad world of the dark basement with a nerd who runs from the sun, but gaming has evolved from the dark ages that the mid ninties painted to be a social gathering. Look at Xbox Live. Not only is playing against a human more difficult, its fun. There is nothing that I like to do with a group of buds that sit down and duke it out with a game of Halo. As gaming becomes this wonderfful thing changes will come with it and I personally can't wait.

I apologize for that title. Anyway as you may or may not have heard Origami is out and has become the UMPC or Ultra-Mobile PC. Boasting a 7" screen, 5 hour battery life, Windows XP, and the size of a paperback book this thing packs a punch. It also seems that Origami was just a codename for this certain type of PC and that right now there are three flavors of the device. An Asus, Samsung, and Frontier (what ever that it is...). But, these should drop this month and be available for a little more that the $500-$1000 pricemark that MS was shooting for at $1160 for the Samsung.

Wow, the web has been buzzing with this speak of Microsoft's wonderful new, well, whatever it is. To me it looks like this "ultra mobile lifestyle PC" thing that has been coming out of Microsoft lately. The official word is "a project we have been working on with multiple partners." The vid (which has somehow dissapeared) shows WiFi and Halo and an actual, not mobile, version of Windows. Also Apple will show off some fun new products. The speculation is all over the place including, a mac tablet, a new video ipod, a mac mini media center, and everything else under the sun. We'll all see tomorrow whats going on with that. Wow, now this is an interesting concept. Here's the quote from Engadget " Instead of a beige box, the PC is an open shelf; its innards consist of a series of modules that can be connected to the PC simply by being stacked on the shelf, where they get their power via induction and communicate with other modules wirelessly. I personally love this idea. I think that being able to update your PC instantly would change the entire way the market was. PC companies wouldn't fight to get a cheap, useless product out the door and you could design everything yourself.

Well, it's done. Moments ago, I ordered my HDTV. I can't wait to get it, only 5 business days (hopefully). I'll be constantly updating this place with info about HD from now on. As soon as I get it, an xbox 360 HD review is coming. I hope that a 30" will be big enough, for what I'm doing, I think it will be wonderful. Talk more later.

Hello!

Well, after some hard thinking, I am going to cancel Project Wired. As of now it is called off. I am so close to that sweet HDTV that I can almost taste it! Well, I can see it....I will be ordering it within the week. I'll post some pics of my room once I get everything up and running. I'll also be talking about Xbox 360 and HD. Project Wired: Step 1 (The Layout)

Step 1 in Project Wired is getting the layout of my room setup totally. My room is an interesting shape. It is one long rectangle, not a square a rectangle. Now, what I want to do needs to be set up right. So, I have layed down a plan:

Point 1: Create a space that is pleasing to the eyes and pays attention to detail.

Point 2: Make things organized and easy to find and use.

Point 3: Use a budget of $0

Do you think I can do it? I hope so! Work will get started Friday night, I'll be looking for designs to base mine off of during Friday.

I was recently asked why I started this blog, and why, I even run one. Well, personally, there is no place for the freshman in High School among any of the tech news sites. (Of course unless you're rich). I don't have the money for $8000 projectors and $2000 computers. I simply save up for the best I can. Hi! I have no idea why, but I am in a great mood today. The sky may be cloudy, and things may not be great, but I am in just a great mood. Last night I was pondering media centering and how it is changing our homes. Somehow, after all this, I was overun by the idea to change my room into the tech, media, showoffy, (ok I made that last word up) center of my house. And so, today I am announcing Project Wired. I will be totally taking you inside the change of my room from an analog lovin nightmare to a beautiful tech, streamlined room. I will be constantly updating this with individual projects of the room, and updates on the total aspect of everything as a whole. And to top it off, I will be including step by step instructions for the most popular of ideas.

Being obligated, because of all the reviews of the new Fight Night 3 Demo on XBLM, I decide to download it, and all I can say is wow. This is, I mean, just, there are barely words to describe this and I don't know where to start. I guess gameplay would be a good place. Well as boxing games go, this is just amazing, combining fluid controls with no HUD to make gameplay more involved, is just amazing. Thats right, I said no HUDs. You simply have to watch your opponents face, actions, and listen to the announcing to gauge how well you are doing. Second, would e graphics and these are amazing, so amazing you can see each individual bead of sweat of your opponents face, you watch the blood and spit fly from your opponent when you knock him down. In all this is just amazing. This game is certainly going to be a giant success and I will definetly be buying it, once I get my HDTV of course. That's all for today Bye.

Hi everyone and, I guess Happy Valentines Day. I kinda hate being alone but its all good. Word comes from Major Nelson that some new XBLM goodies have arrived, so I'll be checkin that out. Anyway, I am pretty close to getting my HDTV and alrready have something lined up to splurge on after that, I think that I'm going to look into a Linux based PMP, I mean I love my PSP but only For gaming. Ever since I recieved my 360 for Christmas I have been desiring to play games in Hi-Def. I've also wanted to watch OTA 1080i television. There are also other reason, like the 2009 date to switch over to total digital TV and of course just this total need to be on the bleeding edge of technology. I am only a freshman in high school but I have been working and am building PCs at $10 an hour. So once I get my HD dreams set up, I will be updating here with all the HD news I can get. Being the raging fanboy I am totally interested in the rumors posted by Xbox 360 Fanboy especially my favorite:

Of course this is all totally speculation. Personally, I know it won't happen, but It never hurts to wish. Being a gamer I am in constant search for parts, pieces, and other technological brick-a-brack (don't ask). But, as a citizen of probably the most boring town in the nation I am going crazy. The local Wal-Mart doesn't even have a headset for my 360. We have no game store, no computer store, not even a little hometown joint. What do they think we are, a bunch of hicks? That's partly correct though considering that our school is full of them, but there are a few of us that want something. My god anything would be wonderful. I just can't believe that in the age of HD with gaming in 1080i and VOIP and even Xbox Live we can't get out of out Analog, Dial-up, 5gig HDD ways. That's all for now.

I've been reading up on the suppsedly "leaked" details of the PS3 and I can't believe that people are believing this. I hate Sony for what they did to Star Wars Galaxies and what they did with their "online" service . Recently I swithched over to the 360 and haven't been happier. Sony just won't deliver, they never did and they never will. I'm glad I have a 360, it opened my eyes.

Hi everyone, posting here from the Library and I am so bored this is better than study hall though. I really feel so bored. I've found someone named Mikayla who I have become interested in, and I just don't know what to do. Finally, after 5 different desicions I have changed the name to The Outside In. First there was Do You Wanna?, then 8-Bit Life, followed by A Hard Day's Night. I like my new title it's me. I finally finished the gaming room. With my t.v and sweet speaker set up it's truly a sweet gaming experience, I love it! Also, tonight is the night. The xbox 360 arrives at 12:00 PM tonight. I can feel the buzz in the air! I won't be getting one at launch but I will be getting one and that is a promise friends. I also recieved my PSU hat today. It's been a pretty nice day. Here's The Day.

Alright so here's how my day has been so far. I started this morning cold and groggy, I stayed in bed especially late because of the cold. I embarked on the 10 minute wait for the school bus, which I couldn't wait to end (as I said cold) Anyway got to school in one piece with the idiot driving. Band was incredibly hard to get through (as band goes though). Ms. Mclain wasn't lying things are getting serious. Next was the wonder of Espanol, annoying as Talyor is the arrival of her "teacher" made it quite enjoyable. Next I skipped on over to English where I almost fell asleep, I mean all we do is read. . . I did finish the book though so I can't say nothing came of it. Then comes one of my favorite classes of all health. I'm basically drifting through it, Ms. Carter I guess thinks of me as a Teachers Pet. The walk to The church although for the wonders of free pizza and soda was hard to get through. (again: cold) I tried to talk to Kelly once I got back to school but I guess it'll never be like it was. We were friends and now it's just uncomfortable, and she has been denying that we ever went out, I'm just going to make it as uncomfortable as possible though. Science wasn't bad with Dr. P although as wierd as he is it was nice. Then keyboarding, again another I can drift right through. and I get to talk to my girl Alicia (love you) anyway I finished the wonders of my day up with math with King, I really think I'm a bit ADD because it was just hard to sit still, or maybe it was all that sugar. I don't know. Over all I had a good day, nothing big, nothing bad, and I have a three day weekend. So like always: Talk More Later.

As you know I like to add a little tech to this mix every now and then and this is now. The PS3 "Boomerang" controller is here to stay, and man am I happy. Although it hasn't been drawing a great reputation from others, I like this design. It's mod, It's sleek, and best of all It''s Bluetooth. I am pleased with the controller no matter what some may say about it, it's just nice.

Anyway, so much has been happening and I haven't had time to get a post in, Heres what's been going down: I started Dating Kelly, and She broke up with me. Band has been getting a bit serious ( Ms. Mclain is ready for Christmas) and a spanish test. Other that those huge events, it's been boring. We had been training so long, since the summer for our last field show competition, now we have to play at the game because the "community" who hates us, and gives us no support has to have us at the Playoff game. This really sucks. We really could've won and now we get nothing. Well, we'll see how it goes......
